Little Lobbyists Support the Nomination of Vanita Gupta as the Associate Attorney General of the United States.

Little Lobbyists strongly support the nomination of Vanita Gupta to serve as Associate Attorney General of the United States in the U.S. Department of Justice. Ms. Gupta is an experienced leader who has ensured full enforcement of our laws,  an excellent negotiator skilled at creating consensus, and a  proven ally to the disability community – including our children with complex medical needs and disabilities. 

Ms. Gupta understands that disability rights are civil rights. During her time at the Justice Department, Ms. Gupta led highly effective civil rights enforcement efforts which resulted in systemic settlement agreements resolving a wide variety of critical disability rights issues that  impact our families directly, including:  uneccessary institutionalization, health care discrimination, segregated and unequal education, discrimination in parental rights and child welfare systems, failure to accommodate children with disabilities in child care centers, and discriminatory policing practices, among other issues. Additionally, as President and CEO of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, Ms. Gupta worked with the disability community to preserve and strengthen protections for individuals with disabilities.  

Little Lobbyists know that representation matters. Ms. Gupta’s lived experience as a woman of color and her experience as a civil rights lawyer with NAACP Legal and Education Fund and the ACLU provide her with valuable and much-needed perspective. If confirmed, Ms. Gupta would be the first woman of color and first civil rights lawyer to serve as Associate Attorney General.

Little Lobbyists urge a swift confirmation of Vanita Gupta  as Associate Attorney General. She is the right person for this position and will serve the Department of Justice, our country, and our children with complex medical needs and disabilities extremely well.
