Little Lobbyists Files Amicus Brief in Defense of the Affordable Care Act in the Supreme Court

Little Lobbyists, a family led group advocating for children with complex medical needs and disabilities, has joined 18 other national disability rights organizations in filing an amicus brief in the Supreme Court defending the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Little Lobbyists formed in response to Republican threats to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the law which guarantees access to health care and vital protections our children need to survive and thrive in their homes and communities. After failing to repeal the Affordable Care Act in Congress, the law was weakened by removing the Individual Mandate in the 2017 Republican Tax Law. After the law was weakened, a federal district judge in Texas declared the entire law unconstitutional. That ruling was appealed to higher courts, with additional Republican State Attorneys General joining the challenge against State and Federal Democrats defending the law. The Trump Administration’s Department of Justice has refused to defend the law and has recommended the entire ACA be thrown out, including protections for people with pre-existing conditions, a ban on annual/lifetime caps on care, expanded Medicaid, and so much more

The lawsuit is currently before the Supreme Court who will hear the case, now called California v. Texas, next term.
