Little Lobbyists Statement in Support of Black Lives Matter

Little Lobbyists stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the Black Lives Matter movement for racial justice, and fully support the right of all Americans to live safely in our communities and to take action against any institution that causes us harm.

Since we began, Little Lobbyists have advocated for, and with, our children with complex medical needs and disabilities by showing up - in person - at legislators’ offices, rallies, and peaceful protests across the country and in DC, including the White House and nearby Lafayette Square. These public grounds belong to the American people, and it is our Constitutional right to assemble and petition our government.

The President’s deployment of military and police to forcibly remove peaceful protestors, clergy, medics, and media using tear gas, rubber bullets, and physical assault to clear Lafayette Square for a vainglorious political “photo op” was an egregious and unlawful violation of our First Amendment rights and an unacceptable abuse of power.

We call upon our allies, fellow citizens, and national and state leaders to hold the President accountable for this clear and dangerous violation of the democratic principles and values our country was founded upon.
